Not sure what to say?

I think about him often. What an awesome professor and a very talented man. When I hear or am singing Dona Nobis pacem i think of my time at the Deutsche Sommerschule( 1965), when he taught us that piece and we did it in a round.

Best German professor I ever had. Did not belittle when one made mistakes. Simply a wonderful man

Never have enjoyed listening to a professor more than hearing Prof. Langhammer reciting German poetry. I will cherish the tape he made for me. Betty Bachimont Siebenmorgen

To the veteran friend above, Pr. Langhammer told me the story of when he was captured. He related that when the prisoners were loaded into a truck, the allies (I want to say Americans, but possibly British) offered him water & food. They were so terribly hungry. In his composed fashion, tears swelled in his eyes when he spoke about the humanity and kindness of those allied soldiers who treated him with such generosity. It is only now with his passing and the reading of his obituary that I find we had one more thing in common (beyond our love of Germany), that he too was a combat veteran. He never said a word about his service and I find that, now, I wish I had taken the opportunity to ask him about his experiences as I did all the German...

Dear Prof.,
may there be a Mercedes Benz waiting for you to take you where ever you need to go - thanks for the poem recitals!

Most impressive was Dr. Langhammer's simultaneous translation of the 1969 Moon Landing. Of Course, being echte deutsch Dr. Peters didn't want students of the Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik to watch the once in a lifetime event(the pledge was not to be broken!) However, with Dr. Langhammer providing the German narration, the event was broadcast to the students. Danke Sehr!
Footnote: the summer of 1969 was remarkable..esp. the East German professor who explained (with a wry twinkle in his...

Eternal Rest grant unto Herr Professor Langhammer and may Light Perpetual shine upoon him.
