Fred Karner Beeson

I knew Fred and Harriet well. Harriet was just a year ahead of me at East high school in Memphis and of course also throughout our period at Southwestern where she met Fred who was a fraternity brother at SAE. I saw them both on and on for many years when I was back in Memphis they were both intelligent, kind and dedicated and loved each other dearly. I hope that Fred`s last years were comfortable. I remember him fondly.

I knew both these sweet people in college and, though far away, have always loved them. I am so sorry they are both gone.

I met Fred in the cookbook section of Davis Kidd. It was during the time leading up to Thanksgiving maybe 30 years ago. When Thanksgiving came up he told be about Paul Prudhomme´s cookbook that had a turkey recipe called Turducken. His family had attempted it for a previous TGing. The recipe was for a duck, chicken and a turkey completely boned to be layered with different dressings then sewn closed to look like a regular turkey. I bought the book and tried to make it.
