It still saddens me that the fantastic Fred is no longer with us. He was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known. I pray all of his family and friends are all well.

Fred Britton was my Physical Education teacher when I attended and graduated from First Colonial High School in 1972. He was also an assistance football coach, part of the team Head Coach Frank Webster had assembled - and in those years, First Colonial was a powerhouse football team and made it to the state championships about 3 or 4 times. My personal favorite recollection of Coach Britton was how he liked to divide up his PE class and give each group a football and assign us to one of...

Just learned of Fred's death. Remember Fred very well from my high school days at John A. Holmes in Edenton, NC. Fred was one of my heroes on the Aces 1960 championship football team. I was three years behind Fred, but knew him well and his mom and dad. We all lived in north Edenton. His mom worked at a small grocery store across the street from the house I was raised in. Like many after we leave high school we lose contact with one another. I think I saw Fred once since our school days. None...

It saddens me to have read that Fred is no longer with us. My deepest sympathy to each of you. All that I read in Fred's obit speaks volumes about this fine gentleman. I worked with Fred at FC and he was ALWAYS a gentleman, loving, caring, compassionate and loved everyone. What an honor and a privilege to have known Fred. I will miss him dearly.
God Bless his loving family and help each of you in this time of sorrow.

Dear Fred, I was so happy I ended up at Frederick College instead of Auburn University In 1963 and began training with the Edenton ACE Fred Britton as a Sigma Phi Alpha Pledge. Glad we made it through the academic rigor in order to graduate Lordy How Come. Was happy you stayed on campus as FC faculty and coach. JT and I will always cherish the upgrade rooms we had at Brit’s Faculty Mansion from our Moss Hall Senior Dorm. Time to start real JOBS and you began your Legend Run for 42 years at...

Fred was a special person. A good coach. Most of all a good example for all the students he taught.
