Fred Grant Gibbs was born in Greeley on September 28, 1974, 7 minutes after his twin brother, Jim, to Fred and Mary Gibbs. He died on August 25, 2010 at his home in Eaton from a heart attack. Fred lived in rural Eaton throughout his childhood and attended Eaton Public Schools, graduating in 1993. In high school, he sang with the Troubadours, was active in drama and worked at the Eaton Country Club. After high school, he attended the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, CA where he lived, studied and worked until returning to Colorado in 1999. He worked with his Dad at Affordable Storage until 2008 when his health declined. Survivors include his brother Jim Gibbs of Greeley, mother Mary (Manuel) Jiminez and father Fred (Doryea) Gibbs all of Eaton, five step siblings and a large extended family, all of whom he loved dearly. He was known for his gentleness and his willingness to help his friends and neighbors when they needed help, no matter what. He was a good friend to all who knew him and was known for his big bear hugs. He will be missed greatly by his many friends and relatives. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. A reception will follow in the Allnutt Reception Center. Private family inurnment at the Eaton Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Fred Gibbs memorial fund in care of Allnutt, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
