Fred Gilbert, twin brother of the late Frederick, was born on September 25, 1950, in Columbia, Pennsylvania to the late Minnie Mae (Holden) and Warren Gilbert, Jr. Raised in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Fred attended and graduated from Columbia High School. Fred moved with his family to Norristown, Pennsylvania. He soon met and married his loving wife, the late Deborah Byrd, in March, 1975. Fred and Deborah started a family, raising their two children, as well as Fred's niece, Nicole, and a foster son, Robert. Fred was employed as a Purchasing Coordinator, working with Mental Health & Retardation for Developmental Enterprise Corporation for over 30 years, until he retired due to his illness. He also worked for many years at Main Changes Store and Kmart Department Store, where he was the Sporting Goods Manager. Working with the public, Fred established many friendships over the years. He was a very kind and generous person, who would not hesitate to help anyone he could. He was well known throughout the community, and will be loved and missed by many.
