Not sure what to say?

Fred was a wonderful mentor to me and many others. He was a very generous friend in so many was. Fond remembrances.

Dear Ally and Sarah,

I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Fred was a very warm, funny, thoughtful and wonderful person.

I feel very fortunate to have known your dad through two activities he enjoyed playing, golf and basketball. I still look fondly on those days when your dad would walk through the woods between our houses to join my dad and I to play 3 v 3 basketball in the driveway on Sunday nights in the summer. He held his own on the court with all my highschool...

I met Fred in 1973 when we were trainees at ANB. I still remember his furnished apartment, a bean bag and tv. Lynn was such a gift to him, so different personalities, one so lively and outgoing, the other so pessimistic. We played basketball and golf together and I enjoyed his friendship. We still have one of his pottery on the shelf above our fireplace. He loved his wife, daughters and grandchildren. I hope he had a chance to finish his round of golf in heaven.

I got to know Fred through our mutual experience as bankers in Kalamazoo. Wonderful guy...always positive and upbeat. Sorry for the family’s loss

Sarah and Allison, I was saddened to hear that your dad has passed away. I am so terribly sorry you’re having to go through this sad time. Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs. God bless you both and your families. Love, Nancy Biro

Fred and I worked together many years ago at American National Bank. He was a great guy! Always supportive of others and an encouragement to all. I lost touch with Fred after I left ANB. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Plain and simple, Fred was a super guy!

Fred was a gentle soul who always had time for mentoring his fellow potters. He will be missed.

We had recently discovered that we live close to each other. I hadn't seen Fred since our college day in Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. So we had lunch in Verrado and planned to have another last week. Fred had kept in touch with just about everyone in the fraternity. He was a great brother and always concerned about how you were doing and not himself. He had a good life and I just wish it could have been a little longer. - Steve Ciucci, Fraternity Brother

Fred and I are both grandfathers to Elaina and Sidney Rathert, who both ardently loved Papa Fred. He was patient and kind and generous to a fault. I felt like we were kindred spirits as grandfathers to the same two beautiful girls. Fred was also a loving father to Allyson and Sarah. I will do my best to fill your shoes, Fred!!!

I will miss you.
