Fred Kurzweil was a truly marvelous guy. Everybody loved "Doctor Fred". (He may have been Maxtor's first PhD hire...) He had one of the most infectious smiles and happiest laughs I've ever seen and heard. Maxtor was his first step outside of IBM and he seemed to delight in being a part of a small team (I believe the feeling was mutual.)
