FRED ROY PETERS Jr.

Mr. Peters was one of my favorite teachers/ people, along with my other favorite teacher who he married. Both of them taught me in 4th grade at Tamura. He taught several of my friends,and family. He started the "Americana Brass" (copy of Tijuana Brass)where I was the lead trumpet player. He played piano and we felt like rock stars. I got to go to Arrowbear music camp. He taught me more than music and so did his wife Miss Myrick. I'm about to turn 70 now and still play multiple instruments....

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Peters passing. I learned to play the violin and flute from him from 1966-1972. I played flute through high school. I am now married to a HIgh School Choir teacher and know the level of commitment he had towards his students. I am now married to a High School Choir teacher and know the kind of commitment he put into his work. I last saw him in about 1998 when I went to a Fulton Middle School concert. I remember walking into Mr. Peters' music room at FV Elementary School almost 40 years ago, child-sized violin in hand as if it was yesterday. The lessons I learned from him over the next six years are still with me, as I still play on a weekly basis with a local symphony. Rest in peace, Mr. Peters, and thank you for the gifts you gave me, and so many other children. No teacher has enriched my life so much. Condolences to his family and friends.

Fred and I worked together for 13 years at Fulton Middle School in Fountain Valley, California. He was a math and science teacher and the very best music teacher and director that the district has ever had. As the principal I was able to observe the patience, passion, and love that was the hallmark of every day that he taught. Romy, Your dad was a wonderful man and an inspiration to all who knew him. While I was never fortunate enough to have him as my music teacher, what I remember was that your dad was so much fun. He will be missed. Best wishes to you and your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Fred and his family while taking care of him in the hospital. He had a great since of humor and always had a postive attitude inlight of his illness. I feel honored to have cared for such a wonderful person, husband, father and music teacher. My son is a music major and we had many conversations about music. my love and condloences to his family. I think the family will know who i am, due to privacy acts in health care i prefer not to leave my name.

Mr. Peters used to pick me up at my house and drive me to middle school to play violin in orchestra with the older kids and then drive me back to elementary school before my classes started. Now I"m a professional cellist and composer living in New York and touring the world with my music. I'll always remember Mr. Peters for believing in me at such a young age.
He was a great man and a great teacher.
