Not sure what to say?

I had the privilege of being taught by Fred Sandau for both 5th and 6th grades at Youngson. He always made me feel special as I´m sure he did for many other students. I was able to look him up and stop by his house in 2019 to personally thank him for the impact he had on my life. I did not realize that he was drafted, but I do remember watching the World Series in class. He also followed my brother who play for MHCC and UNLV - he definitely loved baseball! Thanks again for all your...

Such fond memories of Mr. Sandau at Youngson Elementary (5th grade). He was the teacher that prepared us for High School, but my fondest memories were all of the hours at recess with him pitching to us for hours while we played softball in the field at Youngson. Mr. Sandau had the best methods of making kids behave, and I think about that often in my old age. I was flattered to see him at Country Kitchen recently and he recognized me, even though he taught me in about 1981!! I will...

Mr. Sandau was my 5th grade teacher at Youngson School he was a fantastic teacher as I Learned a lot from hear during my years at Youngson. As an adult I would run into him at The Old Country Kitchen and he remembered my brother & I My deepest sympathy to the family Jeff Cavin

Fred was just ahead of me in Newberg High School. I had the privilege of shagging his baseballs during his hitting practice as he was preparing to go into a higher level of baseball out of high school. He could really hit hard and I had to chance the hits all over the ball field. I also met with Fred in the Portland area as he was still playing ball even in his old age. What a guy. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Sandau. I was lucky enough to be one of his 6th grade students at Youngson Grade School & I can attest, he was indeed an excellent teacher. We often talked about Sports including hockey, especially when he taught about Canada. He was patient, an excellent listener and had a huge sense of humor. He definitely left this world a better place.
