Fred A. Shaffer

Sally and to all of the family, I do not have the words to express my deepest sympathy to everyone. While recent years, distance and events have limited our time together, I will always cherish deeply my time and relationship with Fred and the family members I knew. He was a very special person and we will all miss him. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to be part of his birthday dream. I will see you at the service.

Sally -- John Callahan called to alert me to Fred's death, and I actually gasped in surprise. Now I have seen the obituary. The only Fred I knew was so full of life, as you well know. And those who didn't know him but read his obituary will certainly get a sense, if not a full understanding, of that. I didn't know about the 'round the country dream flight he made for example.
