Not sure what to say?

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Tobey, but I know that he was well-loved. His son Ed and wife Nancy were devoted, and they are wonderful, caring individuals. Mr. Tobey will be very much missed, but he is now pain-free and with his beloved wife Alberta. May all of the wonderful memories help you all through this difficult time. With lots of love,

In the 1960s, I knew Mr. Tobey and his sons Fred Jr. and Ed from Scouting’s Order of the Arrow Lodge serving the Greater Seattle area. I always associated Mr. Tobey with the Ed Packard Memorial Longhouse and the many rites of passage and celebrations held there. As a young man, my world was a better place because of good people like Mr. Tobey and his sons. I raise my hands to honor Fred Tobey Sr.

He was not only a great trainer of Scouts but also of the adults who worked with him in Scouting. We are all better for having known Fred (and his family) and being permitted to observe and benefit from his leadership qualities and training experiences. We, too, will surely miss him.
