The Turner family was a friend and neighbor of Fred's on main street, for many years. His skills as a special baker were unsurpassed by all who knew him and grew up in Waynesville. My sister once told me, "I would walk a mile for one of Fred Whitman's birthday cakes"!

Fred Whitman made our hometown proud and happy with his baking skills. People from far and wide knew him, and visitors almost always frequented his establishment. He imparted happy memories for all who knew him.
