Not sure what to say?

February 16, 2011

I am saddened by the passing of my baseball coach at Lewis & Clark. The opportunity to play four years for Fred was one of the most enriching periods of my life. He taught us how to play, win or lose with grace and act like gentlemen. I think of him often, even now. He will be missed.

Skip Hart, Tucson, Arizona

I remember Fred from the time he played sports for Warrenton Grade School and I was an Astoria opponent. In later years he officiated several games in which I was the coach. He was a true competitor and had fun doing it. George Crandall

Wow.Iam sorry to hear about your loss Danny and Terry. I always thought of him as a no nonsese mans man.I always remember his sayings of "Yes it is hot but it is good for the muscles"Hard for us to complain with that. Also "rub some dirt on it" I use these on my kids to this day.Thank you Mr Wilson.
My condolence to you Danny and Terry.

Fred Wison was a colorful, respected professional and the best friend you could ever have.

What a great roll model for a lot of us growing up...he made a huge impact on me. My thoughts and prayers are with you Danny and Terry in this most difficult time. As Fred would say "this is a time for some intestinal fortitude"

There are not too many days that go by that I don't think of the great four years spent on 'The Hill' and my association with Fred. Playing football for him was a unique experience and one that I have always treasured. Much of the success I had as a coach was because of his influence on me and the lessons learned under his guidance. He was a man who truly cared about his kids, not only on the field and off, but after they moved on with their lives.

Will never forget the great times we had working together at Sports Acres and attending coaching clinics in Reno.

Fred gave me the opportunity to be the 1st female student trainer and supported me through 4 years of college with financial aid and encouragement to participate in what I loved. Those 4 years as a member of the football team were extremely important to me and to my mom (an LC alum). He was the reason I was able to be a Pio and I thank him for that!

Fred was a long time friend. He was very well thought of and respected by all who knew him. Especially those in the sporting circles of the Northwest, and beyond.
