Not sure what to say?

Fred Winn was my Dad's best friend and golf partner since before the war, up until my Dad's death eight years ago. The two of them shared a friendship characterized by laughter and fun. For at least 25 years they had the earliest tee-off time every Saturday morning at the Olympic Club; I have heard that the caddies always liked to be with their foursome because Bob and Fred knew how to have fun out on the course. I think of Fred as a colorful man, who really had a zest for living and life.

Mr. Winn was a very special man who became both a mentor and a dear friend to my daughter Layne. His friendship and guidance helped her to develop her full potential. He was a tremendous influence in her life and we are all eternally grateful for his wisdom, kindness and generosity. He will be sorely missed by many.

We are so sorry for the loss of this father, uncle and friend. I know you will miss him a lot. We loved his quick wit.

We will sorely miss Uncle Fred, the last Winn of his generation. Each of the brothers and sisters contributed to making the family special, but it seemed that Fred was the "glue" that held them together--with those family letters marked "COPY" that we smiled about but avidly read. "Requiescat in pace."

This is the most beautiful obituary I have ever seen. Uncle Fred was a very dear favorite of mine. I am so glad I had the opportunity to get to know him well these past few years while sharing family history, a mutual interest of ours. I loved him very much and he will be greatly missed.

Goodbye Uncle Fred,
I'll always remember you and Aunt Mary in San Francisco.I remember waiting for the Catalina Ferry to come in to Catalina in the summers
during the 1950's,you would be coming to Catalina from work in
San Francisco.You were our father

Thankyou for giving me away at
my wedding in 1976.
God bless you in heaven with Mom,
Aunt Mary and Mac Henderson too.
