CAMPBELL, Freddie (Fred) Neil - Of Flint, age 57, joined our heavenly father on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 6PM Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Greg Rowan officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the family to form a scholarship fund for his grandchildren. Visitation 12Noon Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Fred was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on December 9, 1946, the first child of Julian L. and Marcia (Goodman) Campbell. He moved to Flint at the age of 3. In 1965 he graduated from Flint Southwestern High School, where his outstanding athletic ability could have landed him a major league status, he instead married and started a family. Fred Campbell worked for Republic Airlines until he graduated from U of M in 1982, where he had been an alumni member. He taught and coached football at Flint Northern High School. He was an entrepreneur and he also studied law at Cooley Law School in Lansing. Fred was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, known by his 7 grandchildren as (Papa). He loved family, helping others, music, golf and politics. Surviving are fiancee', Patty; daughter, Tenya and sons, Allen and Andrew; children, Sharon S. Campbell and fiance' Terry, Neil J. and wife Mary Jo Campbell, Marci E. Campbell and husband Bill, Esther E. Campbell and fiance' Brad; grandchildren, Jerae' (Baby Doll), Jacob (Charlie Brown), Autumn (Baby Doll), Alexis (Baby Doll), Joseph (JoJo), Aaron (Dance Fever) and Elijah (Grasshopper); brothers, Ronnie, Darwin; sister, Teresa; auntie Annie and husband Mort; cousins, Brian and Julian; uncle, Bob; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He will always be remembered for his strength, courage and wisdom. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by mother and father; sister, Carolyn (Sis).
