Although I never met Mrs. Knox, I feel that I have known her for many years. Twenty-six years ago, her nephew, Joseph F. Johnson, Jr. (son of her sister, Gilda) and I met when we were entering the doctoral program in educational leadership at the University of Texas at Austin.

Over time, we discovered that my mother (Bessie Berry) and both of his parents (Joseph F. Johnson and Gilda Knox) were all Alexandria natives. Further research yielded that our aunts (Mrs. Madison and Juanita...

Yvette, I am so sorry to read about your mother's passing. She fought that illness for a long time, but I guess God said "enough is enough." She's at peace now. May she rest in heaven. To you and your sibling(s), keep God first and everything will be ok.
