Frederic W. Ragatz

My late father William Blockstein and Fritz were close friends. My dad was a frequent customer at Oriental Specialties. They often had lunch together - along with other friends at the Brat House on State Street. I occasionally joined them when I was a student at UW. I know that my Dad really enjoyed Fritz. May his memory be for a blessing. David Blockstein

I first met Fritz in the 1960's on the Wisconsin Hockey team. I remember Fritz as fun loving guy that played hockey with a passion and love for the sport. My condolences to his wife, Barbara. Richard Whipple

Mike and I will fondly remember the many dinner parties we attended with Fritz and Barb over the years, especially those at Joe and Marion Dean´s home. Laughter was not in short supply.

I´m a life long Madisonian. My parents owned The Grotto Restaurant and Flamingo Bar on State Street. I first met Fritz at Oriental Specialties´ State Street location. Always twinkle in his eyes and a mischievous smile. I loved both locations always enjoyed Fritz. I last saw him at a gas station in Middleton getting a new headlight for his wife´s car. He greeted me with a smile. Always smiling and caring.

If you are hearing sounds of laughter from on high it is because Fritz just slipped a whoopee cushion under an archangel.

My everlasting memory of Fritz - his quick sense of humor and ability to tell jokes to make us all laugh and remind us not to take ourselves too seriously.

Jane and I will always remember the many laughter-filled times together with Fritz, Barbara, and friends in Madison and Steamboat Springs. Fritz was one of a kind. Our condolences to Barb and the Ragatz family.
