Frederick Lowell Atteberry

1941 - 2016

FREDERICK LOWELL ATTEBERRY November 16, 1941 ~ December 4, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick "Fred" Lowell Atteberry on December 4, 2016. He is survived by his loving family, Lois his wife of 50 years, son Shedrick L., daughter Brandi D. and granddaughter Alyssa K. Fred was born on November 16, 1941 in Oklahoma to Sybil and Shederick Albert Atteberry. He spent most of his young life growing up in the cotton fields until the family left Oklahoma and made the journey west to Piercy, California. Like many other brave men during that time, Fred joined the Navy and proudly served our country. Fred never spent time deployed on a ship in the Navy, rather he worked as a jet engine mechanic during his enlistment, and was stationed around the world, including Okinawa, Japan. After the Navy, Fred came home to his parents in Piercy, California where he went to work in the mill. Fred began working with Schuster Trucking in the woods out of Willits. It was with Schuster that Fred was given the opportunity to get into the trucking side of the business, and from the moment he got into the cab the first time, he was hooked. Fred loved the solitude of being on the road. Fred continued his passion for trucking and went on to work for Redwood Coast Trucking and Sierra Pacific Industry. His son proudly carries on his love of trucking. It was his time at the mill that brought him to the person he would spend the rest of his life with. He was introduced by his good friend Dessie Dale, whose wife Sue Dale had a sister named Lois Hardman. Married January 8th, 1966, they spent the next 50 years together. Frederick's greatest joy was his granddaughter Alyssa, who has been the light of his life since she was born over five years ago. "Pop-pop" was the first to take her fishing, to build her first train, and loved hearing her voice tell him who each and every stuffed animal was by name. Fred was also well known at the hospital cardiology department for his colorful pedicures from his darling granddaughter. A loving Husband, Dad, and "Pop-Pop" - you will forever be with us in our hearts. Rest in peace with the family that has gone before you. We love you and will carry your legacy until we meet again.
