Fred Beste was our leader who by example and encouragement of others set a challenging high standard of fair and productive early stage investing. He was also a nice guy. He speaks to all my students, mentees, partners and investors through his many summary statements of what actions create value and success in our profession. And he was always available to help others. I and so many others who had the good fortune to know and work with Fred will miss him deeply.
