Rev. Dr. Frederick Douglas Brown

As a student at St John College, we always knew Dr. Brown was brilliant! He taught us so much, was always kind, and we always remember him---50 years later! He was a true gift to the world.

So sad to hear about your dad. So many good memories of all of your family. What a mark your dad made on this world but what was most impressionable about your dad was his holiness and zeal for bringing others closer to Christ.
May all of you be comforted with the knowledge that both your parents are now together beholding the face of their Lord and Savior. You are all in our prayers.

It was an honor to meet him at Deacon Michael’s ordination. He carried out God’s plan on earth, may he now rejoice with the angels.

Rev. Dr. Brown was also the first African-American ordained of the Cleveland Diocese. He and Joyce were long-time members of my Franciscan fraternity, as well as the deacon of our neighboring parish. He not only preached the Gospel - he lived it every day. He was a fine and worthy example of American Catholic manhood, and I am blessed to have known him.

I was a student at CCC. He was a fantastic prof. May you rest in peace. A life well fulfilled.
