Not sure what to say?

As the 308th TFS flight line maintenance officer at Tuy Hoa AB Vietnam Nov 68 to Nov 69 I was a young 2nd later 1st Lieutenant holding down a majors position in the squadron. Since I was living in the fighter squadron at the time I needed all the guidance I could get. Fred was one of the first to mentor me and with our shared military brat background I found a true friend and someone I could relate to while sharing communication that immensely helped us keep the F-100s combat capable. Even...

To keep the memory alive and vibrant.....want to reiterate that Fred and I shared a number of stories related to being a service brat while we were in the 308th TFS at Tuy Hoa. My father at the time was a BG in SAC and we would often talk about how to drive our own destinies. He did so very well as a flight commander at Tuy Hoa (I was the squadron maintenance officer and to this day his memory and kindness lives on for me. Be well and safe. Cheers.

served with Fred at Tuy Hoa Vietnam in the 308th TFS. Being a military brat myself we often shared Storie of our common brat heritage. He was a great guy and great to be around. He will remain in the memories of those of us who served with him.

Although we didn't know Fred well, whenever we saw Marion and him together at functions, I would always marvel at how elegant and dignified they always looked. They personified the "officer and a gentlemen" accompanied by the perfect wife. Gretchen Gilligan

Fred was one of the best guys I have met. We were very close friends for 35 years. There is a huge empty place in my heart..

One of the very best. I'm a better person for having known him. The Air Force is a better outfit because of his contributions.

A very impressive man and a great loss for those left behind. May God bless and comfort all who mourn Col. Dent's passing, as only He can...

The last time Pat and I saw Fred was at the 100th Anniversary of the Wright brothers flight at Kitty Hawk. He and George Thompson came up and stayed at our condo. Several times I asked Fred about a plane parked on display. Each time he would launch into stories about the plane that quickly gathered a large crowd around him. I am sure everyone thought he was on display with the plane. A rare talent. I trust he has a new set of wings... John Vaughan
