Dear Freibott Family, I remember Mr. Freibott so very well. He was a coach's coach ..... I wish I had known his well-earned accolades as Olympic trial level swimmer before Libby Z. and I decided not to SWIM our laps but to WALK them instead. He'll never notice, we thought. HA! Fred deplored slackers but later on that summer at WCC, when I nailed the jackknife dive he gave me a standing ovation I'll never forget....obviously , as that was 1964. Something must have sunk in....I've...

Fred was one of the most fun and engaging people I ever knew. He truly loved what he did, and taught me as a Tatnall student to play as often as I could. No one could conduct a game of Capture the Flag quie like Fred.
Peter Brooks, Tatnall 1969

Mr. Freibott was my first football coach at Tatnall. Although I only played for him one year, he made quite an impression. I still remember the yellow VW he drove with the vanity plate BUZZ. He was one tough man and built some of that toughness into these private school boys. I am sorry for your loss. His was a life well-lived. Jamie Danner Tatnall 1986

Coach Freibott was a great coach! I have so many fond memories from swimming on the WCC swim team. I learned not to "lollygag" and push myself.

Allison, Amy & Freddie, your dad was the best coach but also a great friend!! I know he will be missed by all the people who the honor to know him.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers

We are so sorry for your loss! I know the past few years have been difficult . Fred was an old friend and we missed waving to him as we rounded the corner. You are in our thoughts!

We have lost one of the good guys. As a coach, boss, mentor and friend, Fred had a unique ability to sit you down and build you up, all at the same time and with good humor. Fred was all about what you could do, not what you couldn’t. I’m going to miss my friend.

Allison, Amy, and Freddie, I have so many fond memories of your father and I am sorry to hear of his passing. He taught me how to swim in the (frigid!) WCC pool; he taught me how to play sports; he taught me discipline and accountability. He touched the lives of so many young people in such positive ways, and that is an enviable legacy. Warm regards to all of you and your families.

My sincere sympathy to all the Freibott family. Fred was a great coach and friend to my children at WCC & we have many happy memories of this wonderful man.
