Uncle Fred was a truly special person and I will remember him forever. My deepest sympathy goes out to Aunt Mary and the entire family.

The Washington DC Chapter of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI (SFSAFBI) extends it deepest sympathies to Mary and the entire Freund family.

Fred was a beloved member of our chapter and a former Chapter Chairman. Upon learning of his passing, a colleague remarked, "He was one of the all-time greats. Fred will be missed."

Growing up in Illinois, I didn't know my uncle as well as my cousins & their children. I do remember every summer, heading east to visit Dad's family in Silver Spring. Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary always made us welcome. And they often helped us with the tourism we indulged in - including a couple of special trips to FBI Headquarters which were a real treat to a young boy like me.
