Frederick Hodges Obituary

Frederick Benjamin Hodges, Jr.

Frederick Benjamin Hodges, Jr. died peacefully the morning of December 13, 2015 of natural causes in Tallahassee, FL. Fred was born on August 18, 1932 and was the son of Fred and Jessie Hodges of Amsterdam, GA where the family managed the American Sumatra Tobacco Company Commissary.

Fred graduated in 1949 from Attapulgus High School. He enlisted in the Army where he served two years. Following his military service, he attended Florida State University and graduated in 1957 with a BS in Business & Marketing. Fred was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, Arnold Air Society Choral Union, Air Force ROTC Band, BSU and selected as Alpha Gamma Delta Man. Fred enjoyed a long career as a Life Insurance Agent with Equitable Insurance Company and as an independent financial planner. He was a Shriner and a Mason. Fred was an avid golfer and fisherman.

He was predeceased by his wife, Nell Davis Hodges of Quincy, FL and parents, Fred and Jessie Hodges. He is survived by his son LTG Ben (Holly) Hodges on active duty in Wiesbaden, GER, daughters Katie Tucker and Nella (Jimmy) Dickens both of Tallahassee, and Phyllis (Mark) Zinn of Gainesville, GA. He leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Lyndsey, Maddie, Benjamin, Hanna, Jessie, Jed and 3 great-grandchildren, Sophie Grace, Amelia Nell and Braylen Lee.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Scott Hunter of Genesis Church will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home located at 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. www.CulleysMeadowWood.com, ph: (850) 877-8191
