Not sure what to say?

Like so many students before me, I had the great honor and pleasure of meeting and knowing the most influencial teacher I ever had while at Nova High School ('79-82). He provided all of us a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the world for its beauty, experience comraderie and friendship that will last a lifetime, and through discipline and hard work, learn to play and love fine music. I will miss him deeply, but he will remain in my heart forever. My thoughts and prayers are with his...

I am both stunned and sadden by the death of Mr. Humphreys. He has played such an intense part of my musical life and also my late husband Rick. He forever has shaped the way we looked at music and the passion beyond the notes of a page. To this day, he influences my life in regards to music. I ran a fife and drum colorguard for our Scout troop. I could still hear him say..right guard.. Left..Right..Left. God Bless Mr.H.
May the music never stop.

Mr. Humphreys was the band director at Deerfield High when I attended (class of 76). My sincere condolences to all his family. I wasn't a band member but many of my friends were so time spent with practices and performances were a regular routine. He will be missed by many and those of us who knew him are lucky to have had the pleasure. May God Bless You

I am transported back to 1970-to the glorious finale of MASQUE at state competition. The audience is stunned, they begin cheering, some are screaming. It is wonderful, we are breathless and Mr. Humphreys is beaming---I can still feel that moment.
His musical journey continues.....Have we thought yet about what the current band program in heaven is about to experience???
To the leader of the band,
Adios, Mr. Humphreys.

Having had the pleasure of being a member of the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches while Fred was the director, I found him to be a gentle giant who brought compassion and respect to the director's podium and to the organization. He was eager to share his knowledge of music and was instrumental in bringing the Band to a higher level of musicianship. His quiet demeanor, yet professional and knowledgable approach to music brought love and the utmost respect from all who had the pleasure, and...

Some instructors simply teach and are forgotten over time. Others, a very few others, generate a lasting, never to forget, impression that molds young lives for future success. While I have not pursued music as a career much of my success can be linked to personal traits formed during an unforgettable musical experience with the Nova High Bands of 1983-1986. Not only has music, but also the educational system lost a great one in Fred Humphreys. My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to...

I had the pleasure of playing under the baton of Fred for several years when he conducted The Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches, Inc. He was always full of energy and pushed the Band, in his gentle way, to be the best. His smile and wit will not be forgotten. He was indeed, a treasure of a teacher and a good friend.

His baton may be put down, but his memory beats on. Rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers to Fred's family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Humphreys (Winona), Mark and Lily.

I had the wonderful opportunity to play in the Nova band under Mr. Humphreys' direction. He never accepted anything less than excellence from his students. That is something that I will never forget. Mediocrity was not an option. We were lucky enough to have Mark take his place when he left Nova. The expectations of excellence continued. I wish there were more teachers like that. It is a rarity in this...

Mr. Humphries has made a lasting impression on me: always devoted, and always early, I even set all my clocks ahead, and impress this on my kids too. He was a super teacher, and made my band career at Nova High ('83-'86) a wonderful experience that I will never forget; for opening my eyes to other cultures and giving me the opportunity to play beautiful music with people from other countries.
