Fred Kottmann, or as his students affectionately called him, “Freddie the K” was my history teacher for two years at Half Hollow Hills High School East (193-1985). He was, simply put, the best teacher I ever had. Knowledgeable, passionate, caring... he made two very tense years of schooling pass so much easier than they could have. His classes were perfect preparation for college and law school. He was accessible and willing to get to know the students in his charge far beyond the names...

Mr. Kottmann was my 11th grade Social Studies teacher. He was the kindest man and I have never forgotten him. He was kind to me when others weren't; he made me think better of myself.
