I was a colleague of Fred, and my wife, Diane, and I were neighbors of Fred and Eleanor in Verona. At NJIT and elsewhere, Fred was a special person; intellectual, competent, gentle, caring and spiritual. I would often stop to chat with Fred on his walks through town as would Diane and I chat with both of them on their walks. We always finished our chats feeling uplifted by their graciousness. Dr Lehman was a very inspirational instructor, and at that time the head of the department of Civil Engineering
took the time to make each student feel
special, and motivate them to be the best they could be. He was a special man he will be missed.
