Fred was one of the most successful populist candidates in Massachusetts history. Fred was the genuine article as a candidate for sheriff. It was a once in a lifetime experience. "Better Fred than Red." If you were there, you know. Condolences to Paula, Rick and the family.

To the family of the MacDonalds . I'm very sorry for your loss. My father was Captain John Zilewicz. Troop Commander of B Troop in the late 70s early 80s Station North Hampton. My father has passed in 2016. But as a daughter of a state police family I would like to extend my condolences to you. I remember fondly that my dad spoke very highly of Fred. From our first meeting at the Framingham, MA "Huts" on Route 9 as members of the 1962 44th RTT through our service with the MSP, Fred was always a stand-up and reliable guy with the ability to see the bright side of life with a dry sense of humor. It was an honor for me to know and serve with Fred. To Paula and family, my deepest condolences. Anne and myself will remember him in our prayers.
