Not sure what to say?

Well, it's quite late to be commenting here, but I just now learned of COL Manning's death. You probably don't remember me, but I worked for him in Heidelberg at USAMRU-E. I also babysat (so to speak) Cleo and Pig Pen. I am very sorry that FJM left you so early and even after all these years, I still think of him fondly. My deepest condolences.

Dear Ellen, Patrick and Kerry,
I grieve Rick's passing with you but was so happy that I got to talk to him before he passed so that I could tell him myself how much he influenced me in my life. His powerful intellect, helpful and sunny demeanor helped shape me in my career. Indeed, to this day I say things and think about things in a way that is directly attributable to Rick. Legacies are important and I am part of his. I will feel successful if my son is half the man Rick was. My best...

Fred
The man with the white hair and a big heart. I sat next to him many times at the East County Advisory Board meetings ( I was a member of the board and later the outgoing chairman) . He was a gentleman and a scholar with a sutle smile all the time
May his soul rest in peace

My Dear Manning Family:
I was saddened to learn of Rick's passing. I first met Rick in the 6th grade at St. Raphael's School in Hyde Park. We attended BC High together and our paths separated when he went to the 'Cross' and I to the 'Heights'. Over the years I'd occasionally see his parents, and they'd let me know how he was doing. I know that over the years he must have been succcessful, not only in his family life but also professionally. He had that quiet air of confidence and drive...

Dear Ellen,
I was fortunate to meet you and your husband in DC with my friend Patty McCarthy a couple of years ago, and I remember your husband as a kind, wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during these difficult days.
Sincerely, Lisa Cammarata

Ellen, Kerry and Patrick

I was so sad to hear that Rick had passed away. The few times that I met him he was such a gentleman and a nice person. I am sure that you have so many wonderful memories of him when he was happy and healthy and those will help you in these difficult times. The prayers of myself, Kevin and the kids are with you.

Ellen, Kevin, Leah, Connor and Kevin Bradley

Dearest Manning Cousins,
Our hearts and thoughts are with you as you celebrate Rick's life. He will be remebered by us as an outstanding person with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He will be missed by all in our families up here in the Merrimack Valley. We now have another "angel" to intercede for us!

Dear Ellen,
I will remember Rick with nothing but fond memories. I admired his focussed yet unhurried approach to life. I won't forget the trip to Florida (NASA) during which you both showed me such kindness, and your gifts for my house. A bright light has gone out with Rick's passing, but the memories will live on. He was someone very special.

Dear Friends and family:

Rick was my professional colleague at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, and we were fellow members of the WRAIR association.
He has my unlimited admiration and respect.
