Not sure what to say?

We have lost a great friend and meteorologist in Fred Norman. My sincerest condolences. Harry Volkman KWTV 1955-1959

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Our condolences to the family.

I worked at a competing station from Fred from 1973 to 1980. But he was a friend. We were both members of the Central Oklahoma Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. Fred was the only one of the "big 3" chief meteorologists that belonged. I remember him for making fun of our new Doppler radar. My boss tended to see a funnel everywhere. One night at 10, Fred brought in a whole box of funnels from the hardware store and tossed them into the air. He exclaimed that he could detect...

Bryan (and Dale),
Sorry about your Dad passing away. It looks like he led quite the interesting life. And I thought he was just the local weather man. You must be very proud of all his accomplishments.

Fred Norman was the T.V Pioneer in weather and it would be nice to see
that same type of person on the 4,5 9
networks. Fred was the legend in Oklahoma Weather. Deepest sympathies
to the family

There are 3 videos on youtube with Fred Norman. Just look for "Fred Norman 5 Alive" One from a parody piece he did on KOCO and two he did for OETA on Oklahoman's in WWII. He flew 35 missions in WWII. He had a wonderful spirit about him.

I'll miss hearing you tell us we're in for a little shake, rattle, and roll.

Its with great loss we say good bye to the wittiest Oklahoma City Meteorologist ever. KOCO never realized the gem they had in Fred. I tried to mirror my shows after his. Fred had great respect for the weather but always found time to poke fun at it and himself. Fred took great pride in forecasting at times taking an hour or so at Weatherscan to formulate his forecast EVERYDAY. Even on weekends when he was off he'd call me to find out if his forecast from Friday still looked good. Gary England...

Fred Norman was a delight to work with at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City. A few times, Fred did the weather on the morning program "Daybreak" with me and the early morning crew. He was fun at 6am. Fred was an excellent meteorologist and a warm, friendly person. God bless Fred and his family.
