My condolences to the Dr. Phelps family. He was a great person & professor at SU and a very innovative senior project advisor for me in `91. I was so happy that the Eta Kappa Nu IEEE honor society local chapter at SU provided him a top professor award.

I am saddened to learn of the news of Fred Phelps's passing. While I occasionally talked him when I attended Harvey Mudd College as a math major, I really got to know him before college when I took Advanced Physics, which he taught, at my high school. He was a kind, patient teacher and helped me immensely. My condolences to his family, especially to his two sons, Kit and Alex, who were fellow Webb students with me.

I am saddened by learning Professor Phelps´ passing. He was my advisor at CWRU in 1972. I wasn´t the best EE student, but I had the ambition to use my EE knowledge to leverage to a broader career. Professor Phelps motivated me to utilize my EE knowledge beyond doing strictly engineering design work. There were...

Dear Phelps Family, I am terribly saddened by this news. I had many classes with Professor Phelps at Syracuse University, and he was by far one of my favorite professors. He always took a special interest in students who wanted to learn and always took a great deal of time to help them. He guided us through our senior design project and taught us many lessons that I carry to this day. I have many fond memories of him in the lab as we worked on the Optical Heterodyne system for our...

My deepest condolences. I had Prof. Phelps for electronics at Mudd. I was completely out of my depth, but he went out of his way to help me get a lot out of the course. I never expected to use the material, but it became significantly beneficial to my career and I owe it all to Prof. Phelps.

Dear Louise, Alex, Chris, and Lon,

Rob and I will always remember Fred as a kind man with a sweet smile. We are heartbroken for you.

All our love,

Donna and Rob O’Connor
