I knew Fred very well and respected him so very much. He and I played many tennis matches growing up and were team mates later at UNC. I knew him very well as a result and I have never known a more wonderful person. Even when we were beating each other up on the courts, he never lost his kind spirit or his presence of mind. We had many laughs in college too. I will always remember his great smile. And we are all fortunate to have known him. I have Fred's family in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Rawlings Family,
I was saddened to hear of Fred's death. He was one of my many heroes who played under my dad as I was growing up. Fred remains in all of us as a person and pro who was respected and made a difference in many lives.
My prayers and thoughts are with the family/friends and may his memory live on forever.
God Bless, Cliff Skakle
