I am so sorry to discover the loss of the nicest, kindest, most conscientious Doctor we knew. I was singing the praises of Dr. Reed last night and looked him up to see if we could get his opinion on continuing care for my daughter and this discovery has us so sad. What a great man. He knew how to treat our 9 year old with the perfect amount of encouragement and care. She followed his instructions and wore her Charleston Bending Braces like he said. Dr Reed " fixed my club foot" about 1980 I am now 54 years old and the footy is still pretty good - did not know of his passing until today (5/23/24) As a ten year old child this man seemed like a super hero And is that main reason I didn't walk around crippled most of my life

I worked with Rick for many years on the AAP Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness Executive Committee. He was one of the first pediatric orthopedists to practice sports medicine. He was dedicated to serving children for his entire life and never lost his passion for it even after retiring. I always considered him a great friend and mentor and I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I will truly miss seeing him at the AAP or ACSM annual meeting every year.
