Frederick Shelton Sanford

I knew Fred nearly 40 years ago when I worked with him at Sikorsky. He was quiet, a real gentlemen, and knowledgeable about many things. I remember him telling me that he had kept all of the National Geographic magazines that he had received over the years and he maintained his own index of them so he could always refer back to an article when he needed it. I also remember him re-reading Homer's Iliad during lunch and, to make it more challenging, he was reading it in the original Greek...

I worked with Fred for many years at Sikorsky Aircraft and was aware of his many accomplishments but, most of all, I think he loved playing the piano which he did at many company functions.

My condolences to the entire family.
