Not sure what to say?

Dear Fred, I think of you daily, talk about you often and will love you forever. It isn't fun living in a Fredless World!

Rest in peace, Fred. You and Max will be forever missed. The joy and hope you brought to others can never be taken away.

I am very sad to learn of the passing of Fred. I knew Fred for 6 years at the Providence Va Medical Center. He was a wonderful source of encouragement for many veterans. He was one of the first veterans to proudly display his dog that he had obtained from the VA to help with his medical condition. He brought the dog almost daily to the Providence VA for the first 6 months. This writer helped him obtain his dog. Rest in peace, Fred.

I met Fred in the 1980's when fate threw us together to re-experience and then ultimately come to terms with our own personal losses as the result of the Vietnam War. For over twenty-five years, we were together in spirit, if not always in proximity.

Fred was the type of guy who knew and was liked by pretty much everyone. He proved that to me when he accompanied me to my 25th Classical High School reunion (where he didn't attend high school...) and one of my classmates, upon...

Very sad to hear of the passing of this kind man and loyal friend. Sincere condolences to Zach, Josh, and Fred's family. I met Fred many years ago when he purchased his condo in Lincoln, and we've remained friends ever since. He would always come to say hello at open houses in the building, and most recently with Max! He never failed to mention how proud he was of his boys. My thoughts are with you at this time.

My sincere condolences to Fred's family. I met him with Max, the great & gentle mastiff, who accompanied Fred whenever he visited the Lincoln Public Library where I work. Max is such a wonderful dog; I always visited with him & Fred when they stopped in. I didn't learn of Fred's passing until yesterday when I read Bob Kerr's column on Fred & Max. Nice tribute! Fred was a very nice man; he touched a lot of hearts. Sincerely, Gretchen Hanley, Librarian @ LPL

Fred was a good friend and a great inspiration to me. We often talked abosut the military, as I have twenty seven years in the Navy. He was also my neighbor for many years. God bless everything that he did for the veterans. My office is covered with military stuff that he gave me over the years. I will remember him always. [email protected]

I've enjoyed knowing Fred as a neighbor at Higland Falls for nearly 15 years. We shared some great talks in the parking lot, including the day he came home with Max (who I held with one hand...no kidding!!) There was never a day that Fred didn't have a story to tell, especially about his beloved veteran brothers and sisters ("I cooked a ham/turkey/brownies/etc. today and I'm bringing it to the VA"). He was a kind, caring, generous, feisty friend who will truly be missed. My best to Zak and...

May you be at peace, Fred. I'll miss you at our dinners at Cracker Barrel and the holidays. You will be sadly missed.
