I remember Freddy (that's what my parents called him) made up a batch of my Dad's all-purpose ointment that he had concocted early on in his practice, and labeled each jar of it "Dr Cohen's Miracle Ointment". My parents were so touched by this, and never forgot it. I still have some of the jars - that stuff is indestructible! An ointment for the ages!

Fred was a truly kind and gentle man. I met him as a pharmacy student -- he was a great wit and had a great sense of humor. I remember taking a test he gave on pharmacy abbreviations. The official correct answer for FPS was "feet per second" but you also got credit for "Fred P. Siegel." Later we became friends and published together and I visited him at his home after he retired. He once acted as one of my expert witnesses on behalf of a dentist I was defending and when asked on the...

I was so saddened to hear of Freddie's passing. He was always so kind and considerate of our family. My parents Dr David and Harriett Cohen adored him. Anita, please know you are thought of with love and sympathy.

My sincerest condolences to all members of Dr. Siegel's family. He was absolutely my favorite professor at the UIC College of Pharmacy 1971 - 1974.
