Fred was an amazing person, kind and generous through and through. He is missed.

I just heard about Fred’s passing and am so saddened by the news. I worked as Fred’s training assistant for a few years in the early 2000s and learned so much from him! I smile thinking of the conversations we had (sometimes on a beach - Fred’s fav place) and all the soup we ate since he rarely started a meal without a bowl of the hot stuff! I will miss his laugh and energy. He would have given the shirt off his back for his friends... What a great soul... I am glad you are at peace, my friend

Fred was an amazing person. I had the pleasure to work with him for many years at NSA. I learned so much from him over the years and we had many great conversations. I will miss my friend.

I regularly worked with Fred when he was at the National Sheriffs Association and I was at the U.S. Marshals Service. He was fair, knowledgeable, and approachable. He was all about what needed to be completed to get the job done in a way that was beneficial to all parties. While we worked on many projects together, I also considered him a fried. God rest his soul.

Fred was a very kind, and genuine person always looking to help others. I met him when he joined the Police Foundation many years ago, and we had been friends ever since. What a great sense of humor and a fondness for people he shared with all who knew him. He will be sadly missed.

Fred was a kind and gentle soul, always willing to help others, and with a tremendous spirit. So sad to see him leave us so early, and he will be missed by so many. With deepest sympathies.

While we will miss Fred's graciousness and his big enthusiastic smile, his legacy in helping our Nation's jails will live on. Fred was quick to offer an invite, a smile, advice and support to all. He was a great ambassador for the NSA and encouraged many of us to be better. This is a sad day for the nation's sheriffs and we will all miss him greatly.

Fred taught me a lot about NSA and how to serve the Sheriffs. He will be missed
