Read MoreI'm not sure just when I met Fred at BG, but he and I were housemates the 1966/67 school year, along with Steve Illich and Tim Miceli (who died a couple of weeks before Fred). We kept in touch occasionally over the years, as when I visited BG, and were good friends for old times sake. Sorry and surprised at this news, which I learned months after the fact.

I thought Cinderella After Midnight was an exceptional novel. I understood Zackel had quit writing and spent years bemoaning his failure to produce more of that wonderful stuff, and then, quite recently I discovered he had been writing and putting out stuff all along, a treasure trove of reading. Now I find he has recently passed I am so grateful for the reading pleasure he gave me ( and others, for I knew a number of his enthusiastic readers). Condolences to the Family for their loss.
