Friendly Gene Compton

I sure do miss you. I would love to hear you ask me, "What you know good?" Papa, I'd tell you all kinds of stuff.

I would like to send my condolences to the family. Mr. Compton was a kindhearted, caring man. As a young man, he taught me the value of hard work. Now as a middle-aged man, I always remember the things Mr. Compton taught me. Through the years I would run into him and his wife, and he always asked me how I was doing, and was I working hard. He was always happy to see me, and always told me he was proud of me. He always said when you work hard, everything else will come. There will be some ups...

I will say prayers for Gene, Linda, and the family. So sorry for the loss. Gene was the same age as my husband Jim, and graduated the same year at his high school in Alabama, and was married 61 years, but Jim and I had only 54 years as we married in 1961. It is difficult to be a widow now. Linda Compton is my age, both born in June of 1941, so we had a lot in common.

Gene was such a nice man. I only saw him in Sunday School, but, he was a gentleman. This world has lost a kind and gentle soul. RIP, Gene. You have run the race and fought the good fight.Linda, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Such a great hardworking man, he was very kind hearted and cared for others, a true blessing to work with and he will be missed dearly
