I was a music major at the City College of New York and was lucky to play in the college orchestra under Fritz's baton. In August 1964 Fritz was chair of the department and, in an act of desperation, hired me as an adjunct lecturer. I retired in 2019. I owe my entire career as professor to Fritz's generosity. He was an amazing musician and a lovely human being. He was a critical part of the Music Department's early history.

I sang in chorus at City College and Prof. Jahoda was the conductor. It was a peak experience in my life. We sang Brahms' Nanie, for one, and I remember feeling like I was part of a stained glass window. It is a fact that about 45 years later it is still a strong and beautiful memory and I'm grateful to him.
