DELISLE, G. RODNEY Of Gaines, age 72, died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Genesee County. Visitation 2 p.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Rod was born in Flint, Michigan on June 11, 1950, the son of the late George and Dorothy (Williams) DeLisle. On November 10, 1973 he married Janiele Vartyak in Flint, Michigan. Rod was employed by Flint Engine Plant for 32 years and was a member of UAW Local #659. He enjoyed reading, Michigan football, and loved coaching for his children in softball and baseball. He also enjoyed traveling throughout Michigan. Above all else he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Janiele; children, Melanie (Miguel), Brian (Elizabeth) and Matthew; grandchildren, Bobby, Alyssa, Jake, Hayden and Avery; great-grandchildren, Louna, Jayce and Lucas; sister, Denise (Rick); many nieces and nephews; beloved pets, Bonnie and Maggie.
