My condolences to the Flieg family. My first job as a high school teen was working in concessions at the Zoo. I met several of the keepers at the zoo, Mike being one of them. He was a very friendly, funny, and down to earth gentleman, always having a kind word for us 'youngsters' with most of us experiencing our first ever employment. Knowing Mike for 50 years was an honor. He introduced me to birding, and I fondly recall the many birding trips, and the canoe trips with he and Jackie. He left a wonderful legacy and will be sorely missed. My sympathy to Jackie and his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I loved Mike like a brother. I can remember when Suzie and I would babysit the kids. I also will never forget all the fun we had when he coached our softball team. He will be greatly missed.
