Gabriel Rene Garza passed away at the age of sixty-one on Monday, October 24, 2022, after a battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
He was born on May 21, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas to Gabriel and Angelita Garza. He is survived by both parents, his four children Gabriel Garza Jr, Katherine St. George, Matthew Garza, and Christopher Garza, his sister Annette Marie Garza, and his brother Stephen Mark Garza.
He attended St. Anthony's Catholic School where he played football and excelled in track. In 8th grade, Gabriel and three other students set a city record and still hold the record at St. Anthony's for the 4, 100-yard dash which they did in 50.3 seconds. He also successfully competed in the Junior Olympics during the summer months.
The visitation will be at Angelus Funeral Home, 1119 N. St Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78215 on Thursday, Nov. 3rd, at 5pm. A rosary will follow at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Nov. 4th at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Gabriel was a classmate at St. Anthony School. Other classmates and I have many fond memories of those days as we were a small, close group of kids. He excelled at athletics and was always a true gentleman, even at a young age. May his memory be a blessing.
