Gabriel Rey, Jr. 1961 - 2009 Visitation for Gabriel Rey, Jr. will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery (2739 Panama Lane). Gabriel (Gabe) Rey, Jr. was born on October 1, 1961 in Bakersfield, CA and he was welcomed home to the Lord by his father on August 14, 2009. He is preceded in death by his dad, Gabriel Rey, Sr.; grandparents, Vincent and Ysidra Castillo and Tomas and Maria Rey. Gabe is survived by his mother, Juanita Rey; daughters, Megan Rey and Lexi Alomari Rey; brothers, Mark, Thomas and wife Lisa and John; nieces and nephews, Tina, Ryan, Chad, Lauren, Kayla, Brooke and Philip. Gabe attended local schools and participated in sports from a young age. Gabe played J.B.A. baseball and Jack Frost football. As an adult, Gabe played with local softball teams and was known as the "home run hitter." Gabe had a passion for his Rams and Lakers, but he especially loved watching his daughters play soccer. A fun loving guy who enjoyed joking around and had a nickname for everyone, Gabe was fond of spending time with family and friends, especially his nephews and nieces. To my brother, I cant believe its been a year since you left us. There's not a day that go's by that i don't think of you. There's always something that reminds all of us of you.
