Gabriel Saenz

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend, Gabriel Lorenzo Saenz, 31, lifelong resident of Las Cruces on Monday, May 6, 2013. Gabriel was born May 6, 1982 to Samuel and Linda Roman Saenz. At the time of his death he was employed as a custodian at New Mexico State University and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing along with his parents include his loving companion, Amanda Herrera of the family home; his daughters, Ylianna and Aleena Saenz; a stepson, Damion Medina; two brothers, Sammy "Kiddo" R. Saenz and wife Bridgette and Michael Ruben Saenz; two sisters, Barbara Jean Saenz and Erika Nicole Duran, all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include five nieces, Aubree, Destiny, Delicia and Abriana Saenz and Serena Jasso; two nephews, Israel Jasso and Zerek Saenz, as well as two great nieces and one great nephew. Gabriel was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Marcos Roman, paternal grandfather, Lorenzo Saenz, two uncles, Ray and Alex Roman, two aunts, Alicia Roman and Bertha Saenz, as well cousins, George Jimenez, Jr., Melissa Baeza and Damian Roman. Visitation for Gabriel will be Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. The prayer vigil is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina St. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the mass of resurrection at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 in the same church with the Rev. Martin Cornejo, Celebrant. The rite of committal and interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where he will lay to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Sammy "Kiddo" Saenz, Jr., Michael Ruben Saenz, Patrick Jimenez, J.J. Crispin, Jesus "Chuy" Maldonado, Michael T. Gonzalez, Ernie Duran and Robert "Bam Bam" Hernandez III. Honorary bearers will be Israel Jasso, Jr., Zerek Saenz and Damion Medina.
