Gail Ann Perret “Granmaw” Mayer, age 85, a native of Chalmette, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home in Slidell,  with her loving family at her side on Friday, October 20, 2023.


Gail was born on September 17, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She was a graduate of Holy Angels c/o 1956. Retired from sales/retail at K-Mart in Chalmette after 15 years. She was a devoted Catholic. Gail loved to sing the church, being with her family, and loved to collect purses. Gail was the heart of her family and an all around beautiful soul. Big thank you to Notre Dame Hospics, all the doctors, nurses and therapists that cared for her.


Gail will be deeply missed by everyone.


She is proceeded in death by the love of her life of 62 years Walter Mayer Sr., great grandson Peyton Lowery, great grandchild (born with wings) Paisey Mayer, mother Leona Dulcich Perret, father Lloyd Perret Sr., and sister Joan Lepine.


She is survived by her two loving sons - Walter Mayer Jr. (Debora Mayer, who will forever be known as her daughter) Wade Mayer (Beverly Mayer). Four gandkids - Walter Mayer III (Linsey Jackman), Gail Mayer Pell (Stephen Pell), Emily Mayer, and Shelby Mayer. Gail also has 8 great grandkids - Arielle Lowery, Bailee Mayer, Mason Mayer, Mackenzie Mayer, Layken Pell, Lennox Jackman, and Ava Pell whom she loved so much. Sister - Patty Burnaman (Bob Burnaman) Brother - Lloyd Perret Jr. and a host of nieces and nephews.


A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Genieve Catholic Church, 58203 LA-433, Slidell, LA 70460 on Thursday, October 26, 2023.Visitation will begin at the church on Thursday beginning at 10:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00am.


Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
