Gail Susan Ogle passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012, in Charlottesville. She was born on March 20, 1955, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Helen Ruth Ogle Motley and the late Roy R. Ogle.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Dr. V. She was the wife and law partner of the late Mark B. Peterson.

Gail grew up in Bristol, Virginia. She received an Associates Degree from Virginia Highlands Community College and B.A in English in 1982 and Law Degree in 1985 from the University of Virginia. She was a member of the Virginia and Charlottesville Albemarle Bar Association and first practiced law in Abingdon, Virginia, and later in Charlottesville with the Musselman Law Firm. Most of her career was spent at the firm she formed with her husband, Ogle and Peterson.

Gail and her family are deeply grateful for the compassionate care of her doctor Sharon Esau and attendants.

A memorial service in Charlottesville will be held in March.

Not sure what to say?

Helen, Atwell,Randy and family, I just learned of Gail's passing and am so deeply sorry for your loss. Gail was such a sweet person and I enjoyed working with her. I do know that she is happy and healthy now and with Mark. May god bless you and your families. You did so much for Gail and she loved you all so much. We used to talk about family and you were always there in our conversations. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I just learned of Gail's passing. She will be remembered fondly as a kind person who blessed so many. A true inspiration!

So sorry to hear about your loss, our thoughts are with you and we send our condolences to the Ogle family.

I was most saddened to learn last night of Gail's passing last week. I have never known any person more upbeat, optimistic, gracious, successful in pursuit of her goals, and caring, even as Gail constantly faced many very difficult challenges. I still remember fondly the first time I met Gail soon after she first came to Charlottesville, after having heard so much about her in previous years from her brother Roy. I will always remember Gail's kind smile, and tireless determination to...

My sympathy goes out to Gail's family. I was on the other side of one case she argued, and won, in the Virginia Supreme Court. Gail was a pleasure to litigate against: smart, hard-working, articulate, principled and always decent. As a lawyer, her ability and professionalism made me unaware of the extra effort she had to make every day to do things most take for granted. As a person, I admired the grace with which she made those efforts.

Gail was the most intelligent, kind, caring, and compassonate person that I call "friend". She was a teacher and pushed us all beyond what we thought we were able to do-mentally and physically. Her heart was filled with love for people, animals, and plants. She will be missed. I pray for peace in your hearts for the passing of this special woman. She is in heaven in a perfect body waiting on the rest of us.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

To Gail's family.....she was the sweetest person, always smiling...we were "fellow" bankruptcy lawyers....I remain in awe of her talent, perseverance and courage... you are in my thoughts.

Ogle family...sorry for the loss of a very special person. My heart hurts with you all. Gail is now free from pain and in the hands of the Lord.
Thank you Randy for all you did for your sister.
