Connor-Healy Funeral Home - Manchester Obituary

Gail Patricia Welch, 74, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Manchester on February 22, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Irene (McCollough) Scott. As the daughter of a U.S. Air Force serviceman Gail experienced a rich and adventurous childhood, traveling the world. Among her fondest memories were the three years she spent in Paris, France, and Texas. Her early education took her to North Carolina before graduating from Immaculata High School, Class of 1969. She went on to attend Wesley College.

Gail began her professional career in radio at WKBR in Manchester, where she worked as a traffic manager and co-founded “The Christmas Miracle,” a charitable program that provided holiday meals and toys to families in need. She later served as office manager for WZID & WNNH, followed by a successful career in real estate with Riley Realty and Lewis Management and Realty. In the later part of her career, she worked as office manager for Dr. Walter McFarland.

A woman of generosity and service, Gail was a member of the Greater Manchester Board of Realtors and also opened her heart and home as a foster parent through Easter Seals.

Above all, Gail’s greatest joy was her family. She never missed a single one of her son’s football, baseball, or basketball games, nor any school event, always showing up with pride and encouragement. She found deep happiness in everyday acts of care, making trips to Wegmans and ensuring the cupboards were full when visiting her son at Ithaca College.

She treasured summers at her beloved beach house in Hampton, NH, and spent winters in Naples, Florida, enjoying the sun, the sea, and the occasional deep-sea fishing adventure in the Keys. An avid reader and puzzle-solver, Gail also loved playing games on her computer and finding quiet joy in life’s small pleasures. She delighted in her travels abroad, frequently visiting the Eiffel Tower and savoring the breathtaking views from its summit.

Family members include her devoted husband of fifty years, Ed Welch; her cherished son, Matthew Welch and his wife, Kate; a niece and nephew, Jennifer Vaillancourt and Rory Scott; and her dedicated caretaker, Andrea Boyce. She was predeceased by her brother, Bill Scott, a niece, Katy Scott.

SERVICES: In accordance with Gail’s wishes, a private burial took place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen, NH.

The Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH, has the honor of assisting the family with arrangements.
