Clavin Funeral Home - Brooklyn Obituary

Garrett J. O'Rourke, born April 8, 1943, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023 with his devoted wife by his side. Gary was predeceased by his father Joseph O'Rourke and mother Maureen O'Shea O'Rourke. Gary's immense pride in his Irish Heritage and his years of service as a NYC Police Detective was second only to the joy he felt as a loving husband and devoted grandfather.  Beyond the NYPD, Gary's life of service also included his time as an Army Reservist and his membership in the NYPD Honor Legion, Emerald Society, Fraternal Order of Police and 1013 Club.  Gary's humor, passion, and unwavering honesty will be missed as he is survived by his loving wife (and best friend) Mary Cole, his stepson Patrick, his daughter-in-law Stefanie, his sisters Lois Muise and Gael Hill, and his beloved grandchildren Jameson, Maisie and Teagan.

Not sure what to say?

I was so sad to hear of Gary's passing. I looked forward to visiting him and Mary. I felt like I had a special connection with him. I will miss him dearly. He was a very special person.

I always looked forward to visiting with Gary and Mary. We laughed and shared stories of our family. With each visit, I grew to greatly admire him and realized he was a very passionate person, driven by his warm and loving heart. And as he moves on, I just hope he knows that he was loved by myself and my husband.

My deepest sympathies prayers and condolences to family & friends So Sorry for your loss Gary was a great co worker and person!!! May he Rest in Heavenly Peace ☮

Rest in peace brother- good job Bobby i
