Not sure what to say?

One of the hardest working people I ever met, Garthe was still sharp as a tack when I last saw him several years ago. As a young lawyer with the firm I was in the office one Christmas morning, for a project I must have considered crucial at the time. The phone rang. The caller stated "Merry Christmas, Garthe." I replied that he wasn't in yet, but would certainly be here soon. Sure enough, five or ten minutes later Garthe made his entrance.

Garthe Brown and his family represented an important part of Troutdale history, growing up at what is now Lewis and Clark State Park. Their memories of that life were added to our files some years ago at the Troutdale Historical Society.

What a life that was lived! Garthe truly had a joy for life and never hesitated to share it with others. He was always a part of my family and the world will be a sadder place without him in it, but we cannot help but be happy that he is with his Gracie once more. Prayers and heartfelt condolences to the family of such an amazing man.

Garthe and I served together on the board of directors of Henningsen Cold Storage Co. I was always impressed with his thorough understanding of the issues and his character. Although I only knew Garthe and Grace, I send my condolences to their family.

My condolences to all the family. I worked at Henningsen Cold Storage for years and Garthe was on the Board at Henningsen, so I got to know him a bit, he was missed when he retired. He was always very supportive of my cancer walks over the years for which I greatly appreciated. My best to all the family, Janet Anderson

I worked with Garthe for more than 20 years. I was impressed with his professional competence and his dedication to his clients. Marilyn and I send our condolences to his beloved daughter, Caroline and her family.

My husband, Larry West, worked at Brown, Hansen for many years until illness forced him to retire in 1996 (I think). On Larry's behalf our sons, Alex and David, and I send our condolences to Garthe's family.
